Workplacement(s) and Work-based Learning

In the beginning of her/his radiography studies the student familiarizes with working life during short period and practices basic plain imaging in a simulated environment in a radiography imaging class room. After being at more advanced level in her/his studies she/he practices radiography and radiotherapy in different health care imaging-, radiotherapy and nuclear medicine clinical placements. Amount of learning in clinical placements is 75 ECTS.

Post-graduate radiographer is required to comply with radiation protection regulations and guidelines. (STUK. ST reculation 1.6. 2009).

Occupational profiles of graduates with examples

Radiographers perform imaging examinations and administer radiotherapy in cooperation with other health care professionals. In radiology and radiotherapy units, the radiographer assumes joint responsibility for patient care. In companies that serve the health care sector, the radiographer's duties focus on product development, marketing and training. Radiographers may also work in expert positions concerning the use of radiation.

The Radiography and Radiotherapy degree programme qualify as evidence-based radiography and radiotherapy experts. Professional knowledge, skills and competences, ethical competence, co-operation skills and development skills.
