Descriptions

The curriculum of the Degree Programme in XR Design is knowledge-based. It includes the core studies of University of Applied Sciences and professional studies of the degree programme. Professional studies include courses in e.g. 3D modelling and animation, 2D graphics tools and design, using real-time development platforms or game engines, XR technology, and application design and development. The professional studies also entail collaboration projects with business and industry, work placement, elective studies and finally the Bachelor’s thesis.

The curriculum has been developed in co-operation with partners in business and industry and the students to meet the future requirements in the field of XR Design and to incorporate research-based design approach and it’s use in multi-disciplinary collaboration projects. The curriculum is based on the following aspects: mastering user and research-based design, application production and team work skills, developing strong personal skills in 3D graphics and application development tools and building one’s professional identity.

Objective

The learning outcomes of the degree are grounded in the mastery of a user- and research-oriented approach to the design and development of XR applications and the skillful use of professional tools and methods. Building professional identity and the ability to work in multidisciplinary projects are also among the learning outcomes.

Completition of the degree programme will equip students with strong skills to work as XR Designers, developers, 3D artists, project managers and as other versatile experts in design and media.
