Specific admission requirements
Eligibility for a UAS Master’s degree programme is conferred by an appropriate UAS higher education degree or another appropriate higher education degree and at least three years of subsequent work experience in a relevant field. As a relevant field is regarded both the field being applied to and the field of the previous higher education degree. The following Finnish Bachelor of Health Care / Social Services degrees:

- ensihoitaja (AMK)
- fysioterapeutti (AMK)
- geronomi (AMK)
- jalkaterapeutti (AMK)
- kätilö (AMK)
- optometristi (AMK)
- osteopaatti (AMK)
- röntgenhoitaja (AMK)
- sairaanhoitaja (AMK)
- sosionomi (AMK)
- suuhygienisti (AMK)
- terveydenhoitaja (AMK)
- toimintaterapeutti (AMK)
- some other appropriate Finnish higher education degree combined with relevant former Finnish "college" level degree
- appropriate foreign higher education degree equivalent to the above mentioned Finnish higher education degrees in terms of level, extent and content (assessed by the degree programme).
In addition to the appropriate higher education degree, applicants must have 24 months (two years) of work experience accumulated as from the date of issue of the final higher education degree certificate and obtained by the beginning of the application period.
Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning
Those applying to and enrolled in a higher education institution have the opportunity to apply for recognition of prior learning and previously acquired competencies, irrespective of where or how such competence was acquired. Prior learning corresponding to tertiary level expertise may be transferred as credits towards the degree. Students are responsible for substantiating the competencies that they have acquired. The relevant practices have been described in the Degree Regulations.

Tutkinnon suorittaminen antaa valmiuden toimia terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin edistämisen asiantuntijuutta edellyttävissä kehittämis- ja johtamistehtävissä yhteisö- ja organisaatio- sekä kunta- ja maakuntatasoilla. Tulevaisuudessa väestön hyvinvoinnin ja terveyden edistäminen on kuntien ja sote-alueiden yhteinen tehtävä. Ennaltaehkäisevän terveyttä, hyvinvointia ja toimintakykyä edistävän toiminnan kehittäminen ja johtaminen toteutuu hallinnon alat ylittävänä monilaisena yhteistyönä.
Koulutus antaa valmiudet terveyden edistämisen laaja-alaisiin ja vaativiin asiantuntijatehtäviin, kuten näyttöön perustuvaan terveyden edistämisen suunnitteluun ja arviointiin ja kehittämiseen, monialaiseen verkostoyhteistyöhön sekä koordinointiin ja johtamiseen. Tutkinnosta valmistuneet ovat kriittisiä, kehittämisorientoituneita asiantuntijoita ja he voivat toimia erilaisissa terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin edistämisen tehtävissä julkisissa, yksityisissä tai kolmannen sektorin organisaatiossa tai yrittäjänä.

Master students study on a part-time basis. Students achieve their degree in 1,5-2 years.
