Specific admission requirements
The applicants need to fulfil these requirements:
- an higher education degree or an appropriate Finnish post-secondary higher vocational qualification either in the field of biomedical laboratory science or clinical radiography
- fluent in English (C1 English level)
- at least two years of work experience either in the field of biomedical laboratory science or clinical radiography.
Specific arrangements for recognition of prior learning
According to the Degree Regulations of Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences students may apply for identification and accreditation of prior learning as part of their compulsory or optional studies, provided they have prior learning corresponding to the curriculum before the course in question begins.

Profile of the programme
Health Care Diagnostics, Master's Degree focuses on developing and managing modern diagnostic services in the fields of biomedical laboratory and radiography. There are two different orientations for the students according to their professional background.
Key learning outcomes
During the studies the student will acquire advanced level competences on research and development as well as project management activities.
Occupational profiles of graduates with examples
Upon completion of the advanced professional studies, the student is capable of planning, executing and assessing quality management of clinical laboratory/radiography services. He/she will also get good competences on designing and managing modern diagnostic services including artificial intelligence and robotics based services.
Access to further studies
The Master’s Degree Programme capacitates a student for further education (licenciate/doctorate). Universities may require some additional studies.
Examination regulations, assessment and grading
According to the Degree Regulations of Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences course assessment criteria are specified in the course implementation plan. The teacher in charge of the course will be responsible for the assessment. Students must be informed at the beginning of the course on the assessment principles, which must be based on the course objectives. Assessment takes primarily place for each course and applies to the students who have registered and been accepted on the course. If the course consists of several components, the teacher may point this out in the assessment principles contained in the implementation plan.
The assessment scale is as follows: excellent (5), very good (4), good (3), very satisfactory (2), satisfactory (1), fail (0) and pass (P). Any deviations of this scale will be decided by the President.

A student is required to successfully complete the designated program of courses.

Workplacement(s) and Work-based Learning
Practical training is not included in the master’s degree programme. Collaboration with the working life is supported by the master thesis and other learning exercise/assignment.

International studies are part of the learning path of each learner in the form of international studies in English or Finnish master’s degree programmes or open studies in international network learning environments as well as in international projects.
