Objective

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
• understand their role as expert in the operating environment of the live performance field.
• identify their strengths and development areas regarding learning.
• utilise reflection in achieving professional goals.
• utilise their work community and professional networks in developing their competence.
• take into account the promotion of work ability at different stages of a career as part of work.
• apply self-management skills in a technological-artistic operating environment.
• acquire information about future developments and innovation competencies in the field of live performance engineering.
• assess and develop their expertise in a target-oriented manner to meet the requirements of future working life.

Content

• Writing the Personal Study Plan (PSP).
• Reflection, assessment of competence
• Methods of life-long learning
• Presenting expertise
• The future of live performance engineering and influencing factors
• Well-being at work from the point of view of an individual
• Methods of self-management

Materials

Will be published later on the online learning platform

Teaching methods

The course consists of face-to-face and distance learning lectures, independent study that supports teaching, and small group assignments. In addition, during the study period, the student's personal study plan is created. During the study period, the student prepares a study diary as instructed. The course has a presentation task demonstrating one's own expert work.

Forms of study:
Interactive lecture
Distance learning
Asssignments
Creating a personal study plan
Contact teaching
Feedback discussion
Learning journal
Reflective practice

Student workload

The number of credits for the course is five credits. Computationally, completing one credit requires 27 hours of work. According to this calculation, the total number of hours of the course is 135 hours. There are 21 hours of lectures in the course, which means that 114 hours of the workload are outside the lectures. This number of hours is divided into preparation for lectures (materials or assignments to be read in advance), personal guidance, doing practice work (individual / group work) and keeping a personal study diary. Based on these hours, you will be able to estimate what kind of effort is expected of you in course work and how the workload of the course compares to other courses.

The workload measurement is indicative of the average workload needed to achieve the learning objectives of the course and a grade of 3/5. Depending on the student's previous skills and experience, the amount of work may be less or more. The competence acquired in the course is evaluated through assignments and other achievements, not by the number of hours completed.

Further information

It is possible that part of the study course implemented as teaching is saved for flexible study. If you do not want to participate in the recording, inform the teacher about this at the first lesson of the course. Recordings of teaching situations can be viewed during the study period on the learning platform used by the study period. Unless otherwise agreed with the group, recordings of teaching situations will be deleted no later than 6 months after the end of the study period.

Privacy statement
A description of the processing of personal data during the course can be found in Metropolia's student policy published on Metropolia's public website from the data protection statement of the study information register: https://www.metropolia.fi/fi/metropoliasta/tietosuoja-ja-gdpr/tietosuojaselosteet/metropolian-opiskelija-ja-opintotietorekisteri.
