Objective
The student is able to name what substances the food consists of (water, carbohydrates, fat, proteins, minerals and vitamins).
The student is able to tell what nutrition recommendations are. Also, s/he is familiar with the sustainable food choices.
The student is able to name the most common types of special diets.
Student is able to produce nutritional labelling on packaging, and s/he is able to apply for information about legislation related to the field.
The student can tell what GMO foods are and how their sales are controlled.
The student knows the main features of digestion from the metabolism and energy production perspective.
Content
Sustainable food nutrition.
Structures of carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and their function in cells and as food nutrients. Water in food.
Main metabolic pathways from the digestion point of view.
Nutritional recommendations. Special diets.
Nutritional content and labelling.
GM foods and their control.
