Objective

The student will be familiar with normal distribution and confidence interval. The student will be able to find an estimate and an error estimate in linear and nonlinear conversion. The student knows the variance covariance matrix.

Content

The concept of probability and expectation. Estimation of probabilities by using samples. Normal probability distributions. Basic statistics (e.g. mean and standard deviation). Confidence interval and basic statistical tests (e.g. to find a systematic error). Linear and nonlinear conversion and variance covariance matrix.

The student will be familiar with normal distribution and confidence interval. The student can find a systematic error.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student will be able to find an estimate and an error estimate in linear and nonlinear conversion.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows the variance covariance matrix and is able to use it.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student will be familiar with normal distribution and confidence interval. The student can find a systematic error.
