The Master’s degree in Music provides students with competence to work as specialists in demanding research, development and innovation management and leadership positions in the music industry and music education. Cf. the curriculum.

The Master’s degree in Music provides students with competence to work as specialists in demanding research, development and innovation management and leadership positions in the music industry and music education. Graduates with a Master’s degree in Music Pedagogy or Music Performance are professionals with a great aptitude for continuous learning, strong communication and interaction skills needed in specialist work and remarkable competence in their area of specialty.

Access to further studies

Master’s degree in Music acquired at a University of Applied Sciences is a second cycle qualification. Eligibility for further education in the form of licentiate and doctoral degree is decided by each individual institute of higher education.

Mode of study

The curriculum of the program offers a framework within which a personal development plan is devised for each student. Students will select a combination of classes that are necessary for their professional development. This blended learning program consists of specialist lectures, workshops, peer teamwork and individual mentoring in the form of on-campus and online meetings as well as distance teaching and learning. It is possible to complete the program while working part-time or even full-time.

Master's Degree (Second Cycle)

Workplacement(s) and Work-based Learning

Students work in various specialist positions and work communities, and they have a minimum of two years' relevant work experience before enrolling in Master´s degree studies. In the degree program, they will complete a Master’s project, which is a research, development and innovation project, where the student searches for solutions to challenges in their own work and work environment

Obligatory or Optional Mobility

A short-term mobility program or study tour can be included in the degree.
