Metropolia is a continuously renewable multidisciplinary learning community that educates sought-after employees with high-quality, versatile, and international professional skills developed under the principle of lifelong learning. The students’ knowledge and skills are built cooperatively in a fruitful interaction with professional life. Digital, local and international learning environments are used diversely. The unique and valuable qualities of each student are cherished. During the studies, innovations are produced to the needs of workplaces, clients, and society at large. Metropolia’s open way of working changes the surrounding society into a better place for us all. Metropolia predicts future competence needs and encourages students to actively enhance their skills.
Health Promotion Master’s degree is focused on the expertise on promotion and management of the health and well-being of the population. Professionals with a Bachelor's degree on in the social, health, or other relevant sciences and at least two years' work experience can continue their Health Promotion Expertise studies in this program.
Health promotion study program is planned in line with international health promotion competence criteria (International Union for Health Promotion and Health Education: Core Competencies and Professional Standards For Health Promotion, 2016) as well as by national reforms, strategies and competence needs. The degree studies includes Health Promotion expertise studies (40 ECTS), elective studies (10 ECTS) and research and development studies (40 ECTS), which include a thesis.
Working profiles of graduates:
You’ll reach expertise in health promotion, such as applying and developing evidence-based practices, multidisciplinary networking, coordination and leadership. Graduates are critical, development-oriented experts and can work in a variety of health and well-being roles in public, private, or third sector organizations or as entrepreneurs.
Development
The training is carried out in close cooperation with organizations and professionals of health promotion actions. The design of the training is based on the research and development project Health Promotion Program (2016-2019, Future Health Promotion Competencies), which was funded by the EU Central Baltic Program (http://hpp.tlu.ee/en/). Objective
