Learning outcomes
Student
- understands the legislation and service system related to emergency services and the standard practices related to crisis and emergency situations
- understands and is able to implement an assessment of the need for and urgency of patient care
- is able to assess a patient's condition, plan nursing care and take immediate therapeutic action
- identifies a critically ill patient and initiates and is able to implement immediate treatment measures
- is proficient in the main methods of examination and treatment of emergency and surveillance patients
- understands the pathophysiology of problems of an emergency patient
- understands and is able to implement emergency and surveillance care for infectious patients
- understands the significance of preparedness and prevention of work-related threats and hazards
- understands the drug therapy process in emergency and surveillance nursing.

Principles, legislation and service structure of emergency and surveillance care
Main patient groups in emergency care

Student can enroll to the course together with the Finnish-speaking group.
Exam dates and retake possibilities
Exam Period:
The Exam test can be taken the following week once all parts of the course implementation, such as laboratory work and simulations, have been completed.
You may attempt the retake exam twice on designated retake dates. After that, the course must be retaken. You may improve your course grade once during the first retake exam. A retaken exam cannot be improved further. Retake exams are conducted as Exam tests in the exam aquarium.
Exam Retake 1 and Grade Improvement Exam:
The exact date will be confirmed once the course schedule is finalized (approximately one month after the first exam of the course).
Exam Retake 2:

Students must familiarize themselves with the Exam guidelines and follow the instructions when using the Exam system and the exam aquarium.
