Objective

Person-centred approach
The student interacts with the client professionally, respectfully and empathically using a work approach that promotes health. The student understands the person-centred work approach. The student observes the vertical position of the human body, practices dialogue-based and health-oriented communication and documents their observations in a person-centred way. The student understands the significance of touch and its ethical dimensions in osteopathic practice. The student takes others into consideration and promotes equality and non-discrimination. The student takes the criteria of diversity and accessibility into account in their actions.

Interacting with and observing the client, observing the client’s vertical position, health-oriented encounters and interaction
The significance of touch, ethical principles in practice, consent and respectful interaction

Location and time

The classes listed in the reading schedule are held on the Myllypuro campus, in the manual therapy classes on the 2nd floor of the B building.

Contact teaching
Independent work meaning that the student practices the subtance covered in the class independently, orientates in the materials and completes the learning assignments.

Assignments and materials may not be used other than in your own studies. The public distribution of these is only allowed with the permission of the teacher.

In case the student has received a decision for individual support, which can affect the completion of the study unit, the student should be in touch with the responsible teacher of the study unit directly after the ending of the enrolment period.

· The student is familiar with the professional knowledge base of the field
· The student distinguishes informal information from research knowledge

· The student can act in individual professional situations according to instruction
· The student aims to act in a client-oriented way
· The student proves to have adequate skills to act in
professional situations

ETHICS, COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT
· The student is familiar with the ethical principles of the field
· The student can work as a member of a work group
· The student is able to evaluate personal strengths and development needs

Active participation, student must be present on 80% of classes in order to complete the course
