Cheating and Academic Integrity
By submitting online exams or assignments, the student confirms that the demonstration of their competence is based on independent work and ethical conduct. Academic dishonesty may result in disciplinary action, including suspension from the university of applied sciences for up to one year (Universities of Applied Sciences Act 932/2014, Section 38). To ensure the independence of students’ performance in online implementations, the teacher may, at their discretion, require demonstrations of competence in supervised settings or in an oral examination. The teacher will inform students about the method of demonstrating competence at the beginning of the course.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
In this course, AI tools may be used for idea generation and drafting. AI may also be utilized for structuring texts and checking language. However, AI must not be used to replace the student’s own thinking or written responses. The student must clearly and transparently describe how and where AI tools have been used in their work. More detailed guidelines on the use of AI and referencing AI tools can be found in the Student Desktop (OMA) under Student Guide > Instructions and Rules > Use of AI in Learning Activities and Theses – Student Guidelines.
Teacher’s Materials
Assignments and materials created by the teacher or lecturer are protected by copyright law (Copyright Act 404/61). These materials are intended solely for use in the student’s own studies. Public distribution or sharing of the materials is only permitted with the author’s permission.
Course Feedback
Feedback will be collected on the course implementation and is an important part of the continuous development of teaching and learning. By giving feedback, you have the opportunity to influence the content of the course and the development of teaching practices. Feedback helps teachers improve their implementations and teaching methods across different courses. Providing constructive feedback also enhances your own professional skills. The course feedback is given anonymously, and the identity of the respondent cannot be identified.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
If a student receives an RPL decision as a pedagogical solution, the decision must be submitted to the responsible teacher before the start of the course. Please refer to Metropolia’s RPL guidelines in OMA:
