Objective

The purpose of the course is to strengthen the student’s competence in identifying, developing, evaluating and managing digital competencies in work communities.

The student is able to evaluate the digital competencies of a work community and the development needs related to them. The student is able to plan, implement and assess training, teaching and induction related to their work. They know how to use various digital methods as part of their work as an expert and to manage the development of digital competencies.

Materials

All course materials and literature in lecture materials, which will be found in the Moodle after each lecture. The Moodle opens 2 weeks before the start of the course. Preliminary assignment in Moodle (due 29.9.2025 by 8 am).

Teaching methods

The course is delivered online and includes an independent assignment and a personal development plan. Students will work in groups to develop a training plan for a fictional workplace, which they will present to other students in a webinar. During the presentation, all group members must be present online. A written report on the group work will also be produced.

The web presentations of the course will be recorded, and after the recordings, the learning will be deepened through work- related small group discussions in a multi-professional setting.

Further information

During the first lecture, you will be oriented to the course and the assignments to be carried out, and you will be assigned to a group of students to work in groups. You confirm your participation in the course by attending the first meeting.

If you have to be absent from the first lecture, please inform the course tutors in advance so that you can be assigned to a group and receive instructions on how to complete the course.

The assignments and MATERIALS prepared by the teacher are works of authorship under the Copyright Act (404/61), to which the teacher holds the copyright. The assignments AND MATERIALS may not be used for any purpose other than your own studies. Their public distribution is only allowed with the permission of the teacher.

Students can use artificial intelligence, sparring ideas or a writing style to produce course outputs. AI cannot be used as a source of content. The use of AI must be clearly stated in the assignment. Failure to disclose the use of AI will be interpreted as fraud.

AHOT (Recognition of prior learning)
This course can be accepted partially or totally if the student has played a key role in educational projects in the field of health and social services in the development of digital competences and/or has a Master's degree level of studies corresponding to the content of this course.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student demonstrates that they understand the basic content of the course but there are shortcomings in their ability to independently acquire and interpret information and apply what they have learned.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student demonstrates that they have a good understanding of the content of the course. They actively acquire information and interpret the key connections between different pieces of information. The student has the ability to analyse what they have learned and to apply it in practice.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student demonstrates that they have a diverse and broad understanding of the content of the course. They possess excellent information acquisition skills that are suited to the purpose at hand. The student demonstrates independence and responsibility in the choices they make. They have a creative and broad-based ability to apply what they have learned in practice.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Approved: The student demonstrates that they understand the basic content of the course but there are shortcomings in their ability to independently acquire and interpret information and apply what they have learned in practice.

Assessment methods and criteria

1. Independently completed preliminary assignment (pass - fail)
2. Active participation in joint work (pass - fail)
3. Assignment to be assessed: group work to analyse the training needs of the staff and draw up a concrete training plan (report). Group work to be presented at the last meeting (PPT presentation) (Assessment scale 0-5.)
4. Independent assignment: Updating a development plan (max. 2 pages) (pass - fail)

All the activities that form the basis of the assessment must be passed in order to complete the course.
