Objective

Students are able to recognize historical and practical importance of osteopathic principles. Student are able to explain the various osteopathic principles, approaches and indications. Students are able to combine the importance of osteopathic principles and approaches in clinical reasoning of the patient case. Students are able to apply osteopathic thinking in planning treatment.

Health promoting guidance and counselling 2 cr
Students are able to plan a self-care plan in co-operation with the person to promote their health. Students base the planning on osteopathic principles and models. Students are able to justify the self-care plan by using research knowledge. Students are able to use the structure and methods of problem solving in their guidance and counselling work. Students guide precisely and safely making use of verbal, visual and tactile guidance.

The course includes 2 cr of clinical practice

Location and time

The classes listed in the reading schedule are held on the Myllypuro campus, in the manual therapy classes on the 2nd floor of the B building.

Students identify the prerequisites and consequences of their actions, and work as a team member. Students work in accordance with good hygiene practice and principles of professional ethics. Students implement the examination and manual treatment appropriately and safely.
