Objective

The student is able to apply the basics of biomechanics to human functional capacity and its evaluation. The student can describe the importance of balance as part of functional capacity. The student is able to describe the different stages of the gait cycle, the motions and muscular activity that take place during these stages and the gait variables of time and distance. The student is able to observe gait visually and to use various methods for evaluating motion, movement, motion control and balance. The student recognises and is able to observe common changes in gait and movement. The student is familiar with the different stages of running and the basics of evaluating running. The student knows the basics of energy consumption as part of the evaluation of functional capacity. The student is able to utilise evaluation data in clinical decision-making.
