Objective

Professional Swedish 3 cr

The student is able to communicate in their professional environment in the Swedish language in Finland and the Nordic countries, taking into account the cultural and linguistic starting points of the persons in the communication situation.
The student is able to serve, guide and advise clients and client groups in their professional field using the Swedish (Finnish) language orally and in writing.
The student is able to use the key Swedish (Finnish) vocabulary and phraseology of their field that is necessary in oral and written interaction in professional situations.
The student is able to obtain knowledge in their field from various Swedish (Finnish) sources and to apply it in interaction in professional situations.

Client-oriented Approach 2 cr

The student understands the concept of client-orientation and the principles of client-oriented activities.
The student recognises the ethical and legislative viewpoints regarding the client’s and the patient’s legal rights, lien-oriented Approach 2 crparticipation and freedom of choice.
The student understands the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration as a requirement for client-oriented activities and possesses the capabilities needed for collaboration.
The student understands the importance of a collaborative relationship that is goal-driven and dialogue-based and that strengthens the client’s and patient’s participation and resources when treating the client and patient.

Content

Professional Swedish 3 cr

- Key oral and written professional interaction using the Swedish (Finnish) language
- Key oral and written professional assignments in Finland and the Nordic countries
- Key professional vocabulary and phraseology in Swedish (Finnish)
- Use of Swedish-language (Finnish-language) sources in the student’s professional field orally and in writing
- Self-assessment of language and communication skills, and goal-driven development
- Oral and written demonstration of competence

Client-oriented Approach 2 cr

- Client-orientation as a concept and the principles of client-oriented activities
- Legislation and ethical values governing the client’s and patient’s status and rights
- Multidisciplinary collaboration and networks in the treatment of the client and patient
- Requirements for dialogue-based interaction

Opiskelija vahvistaa paikkansa opintojaksototeutuksella olemalla läsnä opetuksen alkaessa tai muutoin opettajan kanssa erikseen sovitulla tavalla, joka voi esimerkiksi olla ensimmäisen oppimistehtävän palautus. Further information

The student achieves a sufficient oral and written level in Finland’s second national language as specified in the Universities of Applied Sciences Decree (section 8, 352/2003) and required for work in their field.
The student’s oral and written communication skills are at least at the B1 skill level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
If the student’s language of school education is Swedish or a language other than Finnish or Swedish, they must complete studies in Finnish as a second national language or corresponding studies in Finnish. More detailed information can be found in Metropolia’s language and communication guidelines.
