Objective

The student recognizes and knows the types of raw materials and products handled in the bioindustry (food technology, biotechnology), and is aware of their characteristics and structures.

The student is familiar with various processes in the bioindustry and is aware of the associated upstream and downstream processing (USP, DSP).

The student has an understanding of the unit operations used in the bioindustry, their general significance, and their role in various processes, and knows how the properties of biomaterials affect the selection of unit operations. At a fundamental level, the student can choose appropriate unit operations for broader processes.

Content

Raw materials and products in the bioindustry and their properties
Processes in the bioindustry and upstream and downstream processing
Unit operations in the bioindustry processes
