Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to:
• understand a variety of management and leadership theories as part of the operating environment of the live performance field.
• identify methods and practices of technological-artistic work.
• be aware of the conventions in the field of live performance engineering
• recognise their own identity and strengths as an expert and manager.
• identify their and/or the organisation's responsibilities and the areas in the division of responsibilities that require development.
• justify their ethical approaches in technological-artistic work.
• apply various leadership and management methods in their work.

Teaching methods

Opintojakso koostuu etäopetusluennoista ja opetusta tukevasta itsenäisestä opiskelusta. Opintojakso päättyy pienryhmässä toteutettavaan essee- ja sen presentaatiotehtävään. Opintojakson vaihtoehtoinen suoritustapa on tentti.

On mahdollista, että osa opetuksena toteutettavasta opintojaksosta tallennetaan joustavaa opiskelua varten. Mikäli et halua olla mukana tallenteella, ilmoita tästä opettajalle opintojakson ensimmäisellä opetuskerralla. Opetustilanteiden tallenteet ovat nähtävissä opintojakson ajan opintojakson käyttämällä oppimisalustalla. Jos ryhmän kanssa ei sovita muuta, opetustilanteiden tallenteet poistetaan viimeistään 6 kk opintojakson päätyttyä.

Alternative completion methods of implementation

Opintojakson voi suorittaa tenttimällä. Mikäli haluat suorittaa opintojakson tenttimällä, ilmoita siitä verkko-oppimisalustalla viimeistään viikolla 41.

Opintojakson tentti pidetään sähköisenä. Tenttikertoja on maksimissaan kolme ja jokainen voi käydä tekemässä tentin itselleen sopivana ajankohtana tentin aukioloajan puitteissa.

Tenttiin tulee kysymyksiä sekä luennoista että kirjallisesta tenttimateriaalista.

Student workload

Kurssin opintopistemäärä on viisi opintopistettä. Laskennallisesti yhden opintopisteen suorittaminen edellyttää 27 tuntia työtä. Opintojakson kokonaistuntimäärä on tämän laskelman mukaan 135 tuntia. Opintojaksolla on opetuskertoja 24 tuntia eli työmäärästä 111 tuntia sijoittuu opetuskertojen ulkopuolelle. Tämä tuntimäärä jakautuu luentoihin valmistautumiseen (etukäteen luettaviin materiaaleihin tai tehtäviin), kurssimateriaalin lukemiseen, esseen ja presentaation valmistamiseen (yksilötyöskentely ja ryhmätyöskentely) tai vaihtoehtoisesti tenttiin valmistautumiseen ja sen suorittamiseen. Pystyt näiden tuntimäärien mukaan arvioimaan, millaista panostusta sinulta kurssityöskentelyyn odotetaan ja miten kurssin kuormittavuus suhteutuu muihin kursseihin.

Työmäärämitoitus on ohjeellinen ja suuntaa antava opintojakson osaamistavoitteiden saavuttamiseksi ja arvosanaan 3/5 tarvittava keskimääräinen työmäärä. Opiskelijan aiemmasta osaamis- ja kokemustaustasta riippuen työmäärä voi olla vähemmän tai enemmän. Opintojaksossa hankittua osaamista arvioidaan tehtävien ja muiden suoritteiden kautta, ei tehtyjen tuntien määrällä.

Assessment methods and criteria

Mikäli opiskelija suorittaa opintojakson osallistumalla opetukseen ja laatimalla esseen ja presentaation arviointiperusteet muodostuvat esseestä ja sen presentaatiomateriaalista. Itse presentaatiota ei arvioida. Tällöin opintojaksolla on vähintään 50 % läsnäolovelvollisuus.
Arvioinnin perusteet ja painotukset:
Essee ja presentaatiomateriaali (70 % arvosanasta)
Jatkuva arviointi (20 % arvosanasta)
Vertaisarviointi (10 % arvosanasta)
Aktiivisella osallistumisella luentoihin ja luentotehtäviin on mahdollista ansaita lisäpisteitä, joilla voi korottaa opintojakson arvosanaa.

Mikäli opiskelija suorittaa opintojakson tenttimällä arviointi muodostuu kokonaisuudessaan tentin arvosanasta. Tällöin opintojaksolla ei ole läsnäolovelvollisuutta.

The student comprehends management and leadership theories and can apply them in the operating environment of the live performance field. The student recognises and reflects on their role in a work community and is able to evaluate their compentence to work as an expert and manager in accordance with professional values and objectives. The student is able to evaluate their expertise and apply their skills in positions of responsibility in a technological-artistic operating environment. The student can apply information about management, leadership and supervisory work, and understands the significance of management and leadership methods in their work. The student is able to justify the principles of ethical work practices in their work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands management and leadership theories and their practical application in the operating environment of the live performance field. The student is capable of in-depth assessment and reflection on their own role in a work community and develops their identity as an expert and manager in a target-oriented manner in accordance with professional values and objectives. The student is able to evaluate the management and leadership of their work environment and apply their knowledge in the development of a technological-artistic operating environment. The student can acquire, analyse and apply information about management, leadership and supervisory work, and has in-depth understanding of the significance of management and leadership methods in their work. The student promotes ethical work practices in their operating environment.
