Learning outcomes

The Students:

• are able to describe the starting points of gerontological assessment and rehabilitation process
• are able to explain the importance of human centeredness and the holistic approach for leading a good everyday life reflecting one’s own needs for the older person with multi-needs
• practise activities that promote rehabilitation and support the active role of older people in everyday activities
• are able to support an older person in daily activities in a resource-oriented manner using gerontological care and nursing methods
• utilise the basics of ergonomic methods and kinesthetics in activities
• are able to describe the starting points and objectives of terminal care and identify ways to support an older person and the close ones at the end of life
• justify their own action on the basis of gerontological knowledge
• recognise the ethical principles of elderly care and are able to apply them in advancing the good life of an older person

Content

• gerontological assessment process, RAI assessment, recording process and client plan
• methods to assist gerontological nursing and encountering
• good end-of-life care and the starting points of terminal care
• the starting points for kinesthetics and ergonomic work
• rehabilitative everyday life and the work approach to promote rehabilitation in strengthening the reserves of energy of older people
• small assistive equipment
• sensory functions of the older person with multi-needs and their support
• starting points for oral care of an older person
• nutrition and its evaluation on clients with multi-needs (MNA)
• ethics, professional ethics and ethical activities of elderly care
• laborations
• internship 7 ECTS
• assessing one's own skills and professional growth
