Objective

The student is able to support meaningful learning taking into account different needs of learners in various teaching contexts. They can create learning environments for holistic, creative and learner-centred music education aiming to support lifelong learning in music. Students are able to search for information and reflect on this critically combining it with experiential and practical knowledge of learning and teaching.

The student can use their various musical skills and knowledge in their music education practice in different working life contexts, and they can direct their own continuing professional development. They can inspire others in multiprofessional teams to use creativity to enhance well-being in the society and in new working life contexts. They have adopted a flexible attitude in interaction with others and utilise various ways to support the aims and working in multiprofessional projects. The student is able to reflect their music education practice and professional actions and direct their own continuing professional development in collaboration and in networks.

Content

Learning occurs through participatory and creative group work, lectures, discussions, guided assignments both individually and in small groups, learning diary, written assignments based on literature and participation in the projects in collaboration with working life. The cornerstones are facilitated reflection and sharing one´s experiences in the group of peers.

Qualifications

See competence goals for the Musicianship as a Foundation for Being a Music Educator course. Individual assignments or learning tracks can be created according to recognized prior experiential learning.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

Assessment is based on continuous evaluation of group work, given assignments, participation in the projects and the achieved learning in accordance with the learning outcomes of the course.
