Objective

The student has the fundamental skills and knowledge required for understanding the phenomena in physics and chemistry and for adopting professional contents.

Content

Mathematics (6 ECTS): Typical expressions, equations and functions in physics, chemistry and professional subjects. Simultaneous equations. Introduction to differential and integral calculus. Logarithmic scale. Trigonometric functions. Vectors. 2D and 3D geometry.
Physics (4 ECTS): Quantities, units and unit conversions. Kinematics and dynamics of rectilinear, planar and rotational motion. Energy, work and power. Impulse and linear momentum. Basics of heat and thermodynamics.

The student recognises the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course and is able to solve simple problems.

In addition to above, the student is able to apply the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course to simple problems in natural and technical sciences.

In addition to above, the student is able to apply the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course to more demanding problems in natural and technical sciences.
