Objective

The student deepens their understanding of the anatomical structures that are critical for the osteopath’s clinical work, utilising knowledge gained through different methods.
Histology

Structure and functioning of the tissues of the musculoskeletal system. Properties and adaptability of tissues.

Embryology

The student is able to describe the key events of embryology from organogenesis until birth. They are able to explain the events and principles of the development of the human body.

Physical development of children

Using physiological knowledge, the student is able to see functional connections and their impact on the body. The student can apply this knowledge independently in their treatment practices.

Dissection

The student deepens their understanding of the anatomical structures that are critical for the osteopath’s clinical work, utilising knowledge gained through different methods.

The student develops their information searching skills and can write professional texts requiring a synthesis between a clinical approach in osteopathy and knowledge in anatomy.

Content

Observation of the size, shape and location of body structures and careful examination of clinically significant areas
Microscopic structure (histology) and physiology of tissues
Anatomical dissection
Development of the person (embryology)
Fertilisation, formation of the blastocyst, gastrulation, formation of the embryonic disc, neurulation and organogenesis
Importance of cell interaction in guiding development
Segmentation of the spine and peripheral nervous system
Basics of the development of the structures of the skeleton, muscles, fascia and abdominal cavity
Development of the fetus
Children’s growth and developmental stages
Advanced studies in anatomy that is significant for the osteopath’s clinical work.
Searching for information and writing analytical texts concerning significant anatomical structures for the osteopath’s work, using a professional point of view.

Qualifications

Learning and Study Skills, Anatomy and Physiology knowledge base from the courses focusing on the back, thorax, upper extremities as well as the tmj, Neuroanatomy and -physiology
