Students are able to
discuss the following topics related to normal aging, low vision and blindness:
• Definitions and prevalence
• Eyeglasses and magnifying aids
• Viewing techniques
• Multisensory disability
• The effects of normal aging on vision and general functioning
• Communication with customers

examine vision and recommend aids.

Definitions of low vision and blindness
Measuring vision
Magnification methods
Eccentric viewing
Electronic aids and applications for low vision and blind patients
Effects of normal aging on vision and functional ability
Psychological effects of visual impairment
Examination of an aging multisensory disabled client and communication

Qualifications

The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of a valid course of study in accordance with the curriculum in force, where the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge and skills in the following subjects: Vision and eye examination, ocular health and examination.

The prerequisites are fulfilled when the student has passed the following courses: Refraction, Binocular Vision, Abnormal ocular conditions – posterior segment, Abnormal ocular conditions – anterior segment.
