Objective

After the work placement tudents are able to perform standard eye examination and contact lens fitting and describe vision correction if needed. Students are able to use diagnostic drugs safely manner. Students are able to manage non-tolerance contact lens cases. Students are able to exam eyes to detect possible eye diseases, injuries and disorders and refer for further investigations and care if needed. Students are able to assess a patient’s colour vision and to determine whether it achieves the standards required by various vocational groups. Students are able to keep patient records comprehensively and appropriately. Students are able to communicate with various patients and understand client´s needs and expectations but is able to handle also situations where expectations are not filled. Students are able to work as part of a multi-professional team for the benefit of the patient.

Qualifications

The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of a valid course of study in accordance with the curriculum in force, where the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge and skills in the following subjects: Professional studies and practicals of previous semesters.

The prerequisites are fulfilled when the student has passed the following courses: Work placement can be started once the vocational studies and work placements of previous semesters and 140 credits have been completed.
