Work placement 1: Refraction and Vision Correction in Client ServiceLaajuus (5 ECTS)

Objective

Students are able to:
Plan and make objective and subjective refraction and asses near addition
Evaluate binocular vision
Record patient data appropriately
Justify and recommend different vision solutions for the needs of the client
Communicate with the client about vision, vision problems and vision corrections.

Content

Working in an optical practice and client service
Eye examinations and prescriptions for clients: distance and near vision
Examination and assessment of ocular muscle balance and accommodation
Client-oriented communication in vision related matters
Recording of examination results
Eyewear solutions according to the client's needs

Qualifications

The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of a valid course of study in accordance with the curriculum in force, where the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge and skills in the following subjects: Students is able to determine objective and subjective eye refractive error and assess and determine accommodation, as well as binocularity and their disorders.

The prerequisites are fulfilled when the student has passed the following courses: Binocular Vision and Eye Examination Practicals 3: Binocular Vision and Accommodation
