Objective

Students are able to:
Use drawings and calculations to explain and solve problems related to the eye, optical instruments and lenses, their problems, function and correction
Explain function and correction related to the eye, optical instruments and lenses
Describe basic physical characteristics of light
Explain the wave theory of light and the behaviour of light in different mediums
Polarization and light passage through multiple polarizers
Explain quality of the image, diffraction and interference.

GEOMETRICAL OPTICS:
Refraction of light at single spherical or plane surface
Thin lenses
Thick lenses
Mirrors
PHYSICAL OPTICS:
Wave optics
Interaction of light and matter
Polarization
Image quality

Qualifications

The prerequisite for this course is the successful completion of a valid course of study in accordance with the curriculum in force, where the student has demonstrated sufficient knowledge and skills in the following subjects: Understanding and knowledge of lens optics, lens types and prismatic effects.

The prerequisites are fulfilled when the student has passed the following courses: Optics of the Spectacle Lenses
