Objective
On completion of the course, the student will:
- has become familiar with practical working life and work tasks
- has become familiar with the traineeship company and its business activities
- has become familiar with the work of the company and its business activities
- is able to apply his/her knowledge in practice
- have established good relations with the company
the tasks/skills he/she will need in his/her further studies.
Content
The aim of the basic traineeship is to give the student the opportunity to get to know the trainee company, the business and practices of the company, and a specific field of work. The aim is to learn to recognise business as a process.
The trainee will become familiar with the company and its industry and understand and perceive the environment in which the company operates. The student will relate to and learn to understand, through his/her own tasks, the functioning of the company as a whole. The aim is for the student to do real work like a normal employee and learn to manage practical work situations.
Qualifications
A 30 credit placement period is mandatory and a part of the Bachelor´s degree programme. It can be completed as an extended 20 week period or in two parts:
10 weeks of basic training and 10 weeks of professional training.
The internship can only begin when the studies for the Bachelor´s degree have begun. Prior studies are not accepted as training.
The basic training can be completed also as part-time, 400 hours of work being equivalent to 10 weeks of duty.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student has achieved the course objectives fairly. The student will be able to identify, define and use the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student understands the criteria and principles of the expertise development.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student has achieved the course objectives well, even though the knowledge and skills need improvement on some areas. The student is able to define the course concepts and models and are able to justify the analysis. The student is able to apply his/her knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student understands the importance of expertise in the field of business and is able to analyze his/her own expertise.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The student has achieved the objectives of the course with excellent marks. The student masters commendably the course subject area’s concepts and models. The student is able to make justified and fluent analysis and to present concrete development measures. The student is well prepared to apply his/her knowledge in leisure, study and work situations. The student is able to analyze the business sector expertise and the evolvement of his/her own expertise.

The grading scale of the course is pass/fail.
