Objective

The student can act as part of a band. The student is proficient in the different styles of popular music, perceiving their role in the band as both accompanist and soloist. With their instrument, the student is able to play/sing essential repertoire of popular music from different periods by heart. The student can take responsibility as a member of a group. The student develops their communication skills and is able to reflect on their own work and that of others, as well as express themselves both verbally and in writing. The student is able to produce and interpret musical notation.

Prerequisites

The student is capable of working independently in different professional situations related to popular music & jazz performance. The student is familiar with the background and presentation practices of the repertoire they are performing. The student masters the technique and means of expression of their instrument at a basic professional level.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student
- Has completed the set assignments
- Is able to work independently in practicing a repertoire
- Has a good understanding of the selected repertoire, and can perform it from memory, if necessary
- Can work as part of a band and communicate their own musical views
- Is able to use the means of expression typical of his instrument and typical of the selected repertoire
- Is able to perform and communicate with the band and the audience
- Understands their own role in the band and is able to communicate their own musical views.
