Objective

The student is able to act as a member of an ensemble and has gained experience in practical collaboration and professional level rehearsing, in performing situations, and in the basics of studio session playing. The student understands different styles of popular music and his own role in different ensemble combinations as an accompanist and as a soloist. The student is able to play the basic repertoire of different popular music genres and eras by heart (pop/rock). The student is able to be a responsible member of a group. The student develops their interaction skills and is able to reflect on their own and other students’ performance and to express themselves verbally and literally. The student is able to read and write music notation.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

In order to get an approved grade, the student
- has participated in lessons as agreed
- has performed the given exercises and tasks according to the agreed schedule
- is able to work independently in repertoire practicing
- has learned to perform the repertoire well enough, for example, they can perform it by heart
- is able to act as a part of the ensemble and communicate their own musical views
- is able to use ways of expression that are characteristic of their instruments and the selected repertoire
- can perform and communicate with the ensemble and the audience
- understands their role in the band and can communicate their own musical views
