Study Guide

Objective

Students search and utilize professional research information, and becomes acquainted with the existing research methods in the field. Students identify professional development needs utilizing the knowledge base of the field and considering the topic of their Bachelor´s thesis. Students actively work to promote their own professional development. Students are able to describe ethical, patient insight and evidence-based, and person-centered approach in the social, health and rehabilitation sector, to promote the client's activity and ability to function.

Students analyse and summarize the clinical case in professional language, ending up with osteopathic working hypothesis, and make an individual treatment plan and prognosis. Students document the mid-term evaluation and practice using professional terminology in electronic patient information system. They are able to flexibly change the treatment plan and make treatment-related justifications in unforeseen situations if necessary.

Prerequisites

Learning and Study skills, Osteopath as health promotor, Osteopathic hisotry and Prefessional English, Persen-centred approach in Osteopathy, Osteopathic examination and treatment 2

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students are able to:
- demonstrate familiarity with the knowledge base and core components of the profession
- search for information from diverse sources of information
- work in different kind of positions in various operating environments
- demonstrate the achievement of core competence objectives
- demonstrate familiarity with main professional safety practices
- act in accordance with the ethical principles
- make their expertise available to the group or project
Students have an open attitude towards working. Students have a communal, participatory and developing attitude and they are active members in the community.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Student are able to:
- use professional concepts and information consistently
- search information and evaluate and use information sources critically
- apply the knowledge base in professional positions
- apply their professional skills in various work assignments
- act in professional environment independently and responsibly
- plan the activities taking safety into account
- act in accordance with the ethical principles of the profession
- work goal-oriented in a work group
Students have an open, appreciative and self-initiated attitude towards working. Students have a communal, participatory and developing attitude and they are active members in the community.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Student are able to:
- use professional concepts and knowledge expertly
- justify the use of information sources
- justify the action based to the research information or reviews
- work in versatile and international positions and work situations
- operate in a client-oriented and corporate manner
- act responsibly and safely
- justify activities in accordance with the ethical principles of the profession
- organize and direct the group and project activities
- work in an multiprofessional network as an osteopathy expert for the benefit of the client
