Objective
The student applies their prior learning when interacting with clients and conducting evaluations of the need for an assistive device. The student understands wheelchair seating problems and identifies the risks related to them. The student is aware of how the sitting posture can be influenced. The student understands the mechanism of how pressure ulcers emerge and knows the means for reducing the risk of pressure ulcers in wheelchair users. The student knows the basics of using digital measurement devices and interpreting the data they produce. The student has a basic command of wheelchair maintenance measures. The student applies their knowledge base in evaluations of the need for assistive devices, in guidance in their use, in the evaluation of their functionality and in maintenance and repair work.

The course deals with the principles of sustainability, which are applied in the selection of materials, taking into consideration their recyclability, durability and ethical production, as well as in the utilisation of innovations and technology, while promoting social responsibility in health care.
