Objective

In this course, typical sensors and measurement systems are presented. During the course students gain understanding of how to control various field devices and how the control affects the process.

The course covers control theory basics and how the theory can be applied in practice in sample processes.

Upon completion of the course, students will be familiar with the design and implementation of instrumentation using a variety of fieldbuses. The importance of calibration, maintenance and safety is emphasised from the instrumentation design stage.

The student

• understands the importance of expertise in the field and is able to analyse their own expertise.

The student

• has completed the learning tasks of the course at a good or excellent level

• is able to analyse expertise in their field and their own development towards expertise.
