Descriptions
Health and wellbeing management refers to the management of citizens, municipalities, municipal organisations and wellbeing services counties in both the public and the private sector from the perspective of health and wellbeing promotion, services, cooperation, networks, participation and wellbeing data.
The basis for wellbeing management is the broad definition of wellbeing, which includes physical health, psychological wellbeing, social relationships, interaction, a healthy and safe living environment and well-functioning service systems. Health and wellbeing management consists of the management of health care and social services processes, the primary objective of which is to create wellbeing. The focus is on the development of ways of working, structures and practices promoting wellbeing on a regional and national level.
The key themes of the Health and Wellbeing Management degree programme are the renewing health care and social services systems in developing operating environments, knowledge-based management, strategic management, profitable finances, management of renewing processes and high-quality development of customer-oriented services. The aim of the studies leading to a UAS Master’s degree is to provide the student with highly specialised knowledge for working in demanding expert and management tasks, which is a requirement for developing working life.
Those graduating with the degree possess research and development competence and are able to modernise sustainable workplaces particularly for the development needs of wellbeing services and wellbeing services counties. The Health and Wellbeing Management degree programme provides graduates with the competence to serve in expert tasks and as managers in health care and social services, both in the public and the private sector.
Metropolia University of Applied Sciences is a constantly renewing multidisciplinary learning community that trains competent labour based on the needs of society, in accordance with the ideology of lifelong learning. Metropolia supports more flexible learning and learner-oriented solutions in order to achieve a positive learning experience. Digital, innovative and multiform learning environments are utilised in a pedagogically meaningful way, with a strong focus on impactful learning. Studies are guided in a timely and learner-oriented manner in accordance with Metropolia’s guidance model. The uniqueness and dignity of each learner in cherished throughout the studies.
Development
During the studies, competence is built through collaboration and a focus on working life in an enriching interaction with regional actors. This multidisciplinary learning that is integrated into research, development and innovation activities addresses development needs arising from the world of work and develops regional functions.
Further information
The degree programme is new, as is the curriculum, with the exception of the Implementation of the Master’s Thesis S000EM84 and the Report and Assessment of the Master’s Thesis S000EM85, which are the same as the corresponding courses in the previous curriculum (S2022S6 or L0922S6).
The persons responsible for the curriculum are Senior Lecturer Antti Niemi and Head of Degree Programme Mari Virtanen.
The curriculum is maintained by Programme Coordinator Petra Heino.
Objective
The education conforms to the competence level descriptions of the European Qualification Framework (EQF) as well as the competence descriptions of degrees and other competence of the National Qualification Framework (NQF). The education corresponds to EQF level 7.
