Objective
After completion of the course the student understands the operation of AC-circuits and can also analyse them. The student is able to use the most common analysis methods and understand the operation of different components. The student can use phasor calculus when analysing circuits.
After completion of the course the student can operate basic measurement devices like an oscilloscope, multi-meter and signal generator and can understand the factors that affect the measurement accuracy. The student can design and implement simple AC-circuits. Students can also use Multisim software to analyse circuits.
Content
The basic concepts of AC electricity : frequency, sinusoidal current/voltage, capacitance, inductance, mutual inductance etc. Phasors, impedance, complex power, transfer function, the superposition theorem, mesh and node voltage methods, Thevenin’s theorem
Norton’s theorem, frequency response, filters, resonance, transformers
Evaluation scale
0-5
