Objective

Knows the control principles of HVAC-systems and factors affecting them. Can check the performance of a simple control circuit. Can explain the operation of a building automation system. Is able to interpret control diagrams and descriptions of operation of basic systems.

Content

Basic theory and operation principles of open and closed control loops. Process characteristics and control parameters. Principles of analog and digital control systems. Components of control systems for HVAC-processes. Principles and symbols for control diagrams and descriptions of operation.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Can explain the control principles of simple HVAC processes. Can, when assisted, check the performance of a simple control circuit. Can explain the main principles of the operation of a building automation system. Can interpret simple control diagrams and descriptions of operation of basic systems.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Can explain the control principles of HVAC-systems and factors affecting them. Can check the performance of a simple control circuit. Can explain the operation of a building automation system. Can interpret control diagrams and descriptions of operation of basic systems.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to (3), can design and draw up simple control diagrams and descriptions of operation of basic systems.
