Learning outcomes
The student will perform, in a team, a pre-study for a biotech or food process using engineering skills learnt during previous studies.
S/he is familiar with the process design methodology, diagrams and concepts. S/he knows the most important documents and their role in the project's success. The student understands the calculation and assessment methods. S/he can evaluate equipment design in different solutions and can make necessary calculations. S/he is able to draw up basic documents and diagrams during the design process.
The student can analyse relevant costs and revenues in capital investment appraisal. S/he will be aware of financing sources and their cost effects. If working capital represents a major factor the student will be able to take that into account. S/he knows the time value of money and appreciates the risk that is inherent in capital projects.
