The student knows the material recycling and reuse processes and concepts so that one can solve the main problems in environmental engineering.

Prerequisites

The student has basic knowledge of material energy effiency and he/she understands the basics of energy and environmental technologies.

Teaching methods

The course is implemented as the Solutions.now course of the Climate University network.

Students work in multi-disciplinary teams, each team dedicated to one sustainability project. They get to experience how it feels like to use their knowledge to make a positive impact on the world. Additionally, there are articles to read, videos to watch etc. online. There will be online meetings with the teachers during the study weeks as well as online meetings with the team.?

Location and time

Solutions.now is an e-course (online study course). Course starts on Monday 10.3.2025. The course lasts for 8 weeks so it finalized by 5.5.2025.?

- You don't have the possibility to raise your final grade or a grade for an individual task.?

Student workload

Informed on the Digicampus platform?

There will be online lectures and course work on Mondays and Thursdays during that 8 week period (93 hours).?
Other work (42 hours) on the course will also be online but you can do those in your own time.?

The course is of 5 ECTS so the workload is 135 hours all together.?

Further information for students

The student can define or describe the subject matter related to the concepts and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the associated basic quantitative comparisons and calculations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to apply, calculate, change and choose the concepts related to the matter and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the basic quantitative calculations as well as to complete and produce the necessary information for the calculations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The students is able to categorise, collect, combine and generalise the concepts related to the matter and phenomena qualitatively and calculate the basic quantitative calculations as well as derive and rearrange given basic information.
