Learning outcomes

On completion of the course the student will be able to solve material and energy balances.
The course objectives are to acquire such a level of knowledge and skills in equations, matrices and vectors that are required in other studies in the student’s own field of specialization. The course will also enhance the student’s computer aided computational skills.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to define process material and energy balance. The student is able to solve pairs of equations and elementary matrix computations.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to define process material and energy balance. The student is able to solve pairs of equations and elementary matrix computations. The student is able to solve also nonlinear pairs of equations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is able to define process material and energy balance. The student is able to define material balance and is able to define system in matrix form and solve them using some mathematical software. The student is able to apply systems of linear equations to at least one type of major application in the student’s own field of specialization etc. The student is able to interpret data and models from a vectorial point of view.

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student is able to define process material and energy balance. The student is able to solve pairs of equations and elementary matrix computations.
