Objective

Upon completion of this course the student knows NC machines, their set up and functioning principles.
The student is able to use NC programs, ISO codes, dialogue control and computer aided programming. The student can make objects using NC lathes and machining centres.

Content

1. Theory, structure and function of NC machines
2. Programming of NC lathes and machining centres by using ISO code, dialog control and CAM
3. Making of an object by using NC lathe and machining centre

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

1. The student knows the basics of NC technique and identifies NC machines
2. The student can make simple NC programs for lathe and machining centre

Assessment criteria, good (3)

1. The student knows the theory of NC technique, identifies NC machines and knows their functioning
2. The student can write simple NC programs for lathes and machining centres. Using ISO code. The student can program NC lathes using dialog control.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

1. The student knows the theory of NC techniques, can identify NC machines and knows their functioning
2. The student can write programs with ISO code for lathes and machining centres. The student can program NC lathes using dialog control.
3. The student knows the basics of CAM and how to operate machining centres with it.
