Learning outcomes

Student
- have a command of physical laws and phenomena sufficiently to enable them to understand the physical operating principles of the most common methods and devices used in laboratory work
- perform basic calculations and apply these to biomedical laboratory work, convert units, solve equations, and identify and describe mathematical dependencies.
- draw conclusions from distributions, use spreadsheet software to calculate and analyse statistical parameters and correlation between variables, and interpret and assess statistical reports in laboratory work

Content

Mechanics and mechanical applications
Thermology and applications relating to physical states
Unit conversions, significance of figures, powers and square roots, linear equations and proportions, logarithms, exponential functions
Statistical parameters related to quality control and statistical reporting, confidence intervals, correlation, regression model, diagrams, tables, application of spreadsheet software, interpretation and evaluation of statistical reports
