Objective
Students are able to measure the interpupillary distance and measure the dioptric and prismatic powers of spectacles. They are able to edge the lenses in basic cases using an automatic edging machine. They are able to take into consideration the measurements and tolerances when glazing the spectacles. Students are able to do basic repairing and services of spectacles. Students are able to evaluate the quality and fitting of the spectacles to be dispensed and evaluate the usefulness and restrictions of use regarding various lens and frame materials.
Content
Edging of lenses to frames according to the prescription, mounting of lenses to frames, services and repairs of spectacles, use of the focimeter, pupillometer and other equipment to measure and glaze spectacles, production of a pair of spectacles ready to be dispensed. Commonly used chemical substances and their safe use.
Materials
Spectacle frames and lenses. The student prepare and repair glasses on the materials provided.
The student prepare about 15 spectacles in accordance with the instructions given.
Eyeglass lenses are made of plastic, glass and polycarbonate.
The student will repair broken celluloid acetate and metal frames 2-4
The student is trained in the use of a lensmeter
