Objective

Students recognise and know how to apply legislation and documentation concerning early childhood education, day care and child protection. They know how to plan, implement and evaluate care based on core principles of early childhood education. Their actions aim to develop children in a pedagogical and goal-oriented manner. Students are able to apply a participatory and child-oriented approach to their actions.

Content

Basics of planning early childhood education (VASU) and holistic planning of activities. Service systems and documents concerning early childhood education. Competence of Bachelors of Social Services in early childhood education. Combining children’s activities with the immediate environment and a sustainable lifestyle. Concept of children. Encountering children. Planning daily activities, learning by doing. Diverse learning environments. Characteristics of children’s behaviour.

Students work according to professional ethics as well as commit themselves to the group, enhancing its functioning.

Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of various situations, and in their work they commit themselves to the code of professional conduct.

Students work according to professional ethics considering the characteristics of complex and unpredictable situations. Their work develops and renews professional procedures and practices.

Assessment methods and criteria

exam 70%, assignment 30%.
Evaluation is based on the study units objectives and contents. Active participation is required 50%.
