Objective
Students understand the significance of microbiological knowledge in an Optometrist's work and possess capabilities to cut the transmission routes of communicable diseases. They are familiar with the most significant bacterial, viral, fungal and parasitic diseases and know how to protect themselves against microbes causing infectious diseases in their work as Optometrists. Students are familiar with the functions of the antimicrobial defence mechanisms of organ systems and are capable of applying their aseptic knowledge based on microbiology in various working life situations.
Content
Research area of microbiology, basic knowledge of different groups of microbes, normal flora and its significance, routes of transmission and infectious diseases, defence system of the human body, cleaning contact lenses.
