Objective

The target of the course is to provide an overview of entrepreneurship and develop each student´s entrepreneurial skills. The student learns to create and assess new business ideas, services and products, which are customer-oriented and cost-effective. The student acquires basic skills and knowledge to start a business by leveraging service design methodologies. The student develops their marketing and sales skills. The student becomes aware of the guidance services and support provided to entrepreneurs by public and non-governmental actors. The student knows how to acquire funding for the business and make profitability calculations, price the products and services, and produce a clear business plan for their business idea. The student learns to build relevant networks for their business and recognize sustainable business opportunities.

STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO FILL IN A MOTIVATION LETTER TO BE ACCEPTED INTO THIS COURSE. YOU WILL BE SENT THIS FORM ONCE YOU HAVE ENROLLED. THESE MOTIVATION LETTERS WILL BE EVALUATED AND ONLY UP TO 20 STUDENTS WILL BE ACCEPTED INTO THE COURSE.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student has participated in activities and sketched the business idea fairly. The student has gained basic understanding of the different concepts and fundamentals of entrepreneurship. He or she is aware of the stages of starting new business and registering a company and of tools and methods for planning entrepreneurship. He or she is aware of impacts that the operational environment has on a company.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student has participated in activities actively and is able to recognize well what is required to establish and operate a company. He or she is able to apply into practice different tools and methods for planning entrepreneurship and to develop his or her business idea further. The student is well-aware of the different stages of starting and registering a company and of the impacts operational environment has on the company. He or she has gained perspectives of the opportunities in business and how to utilize different support services and networks.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student has participated in activities and development of the business idea extremely well. He or she has adopted wide range of knowledge and skills that an entrepreneur needs when starting a company. He or she is able to actively use tools and methods of entrepreneurship in order to analyse and develop his or her business idea. The student knows the requirements of the stakeholders in the operational environment of the companies. He or she knows how to acquire and analyse knowledge about operating a company and its funding. The student has developed his or her own business idea and business plan ready for a possible realisation.
