Learning outcomes

The student knows their physical and social learning environment and manage information systems and applications relevant to their studies. The student is aware of the crucial guidelines, rules and studying practices in the Metropolia UAS and knows how to use student services.

The student has acquaintance with the design of the curriculum and know how to plan their own studies and the progress of the studies. They recognize their own strengths and goals of development, while they know how to develop their own learning and studying skills. While the student learns how to be active in various social contexts, they gain skills of interaction.

The student becomes familiar with the principles of how to practice their own musical instruments and with the principles of efficient and goal oriented studies. In their studies, the student knows how to use computers and the main musical applications.

As part of their vocational competences, the student is active in developing their English language skills, use English sources efficiently for professional orientation, and communicate clearly and with confidence in English learning environments.

Content

The orientation days with music technology and English studies constitute the learning outcomes of the study.

The student becomes familiar with their learning environment and with the crucial guidelines, rules and studying practices of the Metropolia UAS. The student learns how to use the most common applications of music technology such as music writing programs, sequencers, and other applications relevant to studying, practicing, and teaching music. Learning technical applications includes foundations of picture and sound editing with principles of picture and sound formats as well as computerized writing of transcriptions.

In developing their English language skills, the student learns how to gain knowledge about the field of music from English sources and how to critically use this knowledge. They also learn how to communicate efficiently in learning environments in English.
