Learning outcomes

The student understands the structure of the public cultural sector, its actors and decision-making processes. The student becomes familiar with the public sector’s bodies which are supporting culture as well as the cultural organizations. The student understands the state’s, region’s and municipality’s significance and the role in cultural work and in decision-making system. The student understands the main cultural policies. The student understands the importance of the Finnish cultural politics, knows the culture’s public administration system and is able to obtain the information as well as to use the public cultural services in his/her work.

The student demonstrates his/her knowledge about the public organizations structure and decision-making systems basics. He/she is able to obtain information from the cultural activity’s sources.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the public organizations structure and decision-making system as well as the public cultural services and is able to apply the information. The student knows how the economic, cultural- and arts policy decisions born in the public cultural sector. The student knows the main documents of the public cultural sector.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student understands the public organizations structure and decision-making system and is able to utilize his/her knowledge when planning cultural services. The student is able to put his/her own cultural policy thinking to cultural policy’s frame. The student can use supporting numerical facts when arguing.
