Objective
The highest priority of the course is to give students the basic knowledge of the technical possibilities and equipment available during music studies and to encourage students to take them in use when working in a profession.
Content
-The fundamentals of the Sibelius-notation
-The concept of the digital sound and the fundamentals of the sound processing
(Software: Sound Forge)
-The fundamentals of the word processing (Software: Word)
-The fundamentals of the multimedia presentations (Software: PowerPoint)
-The fundamentals of the spreadsheet computation (Software: Excel)
-The fundamentals of the graphics processing (Software: Photoshop Elements)
-The use of the information system required during studies (e.g. Tube, Moodle, Winha, email, internet)
Materials
The teacher's teaching materials: e.g. the necessary software manuals both in text files and video recordings. The material is divided in the course's Moodle-learning environment.

The Exam is carried out in the Moodle learning environment. The examination time will be agreed with the students.
Further information
The course starts with a live meeting: 01/14/2014 at 13-15, class P421, 4th floor, address: Bulevardi 31, Helsinki. In the meeting the practices of the course will be presented and the online groups and the network meeting schedule will be agreed (at least 6 online meetings / group, each of 2 hours).
During the course learning takes place online: both in the Moodle learning environment and regularly in real-time instructor-led meetings in an Adobe Connect -virtual room. Online meeting participation is possible from anywhere, when a computer with internet access, a headset (with USB connection) and a web camera, as well as the necessary software, are available. The online meeting participation is also possible from Metropolia's workstions, which have the necessary facilities.
