Fundamentals on Journalism and Network Media (5 ECTS)

Objective

The students know the role and significance of journalism in society. They know the fundamentals of journalistic work process. They understand the significance of constant monitoring of current events and news. They can make observations, produce ideas, acquire information and choose a point of view in journalistic work. They are familiar with the fundamentals of interview techniques. They can critically assess the the information material they access. They know how to organize complicated information into an accessible whole. They can refine story ideas, assess them and give feedback from the content. The students are familiar with main features of network and social media. The students can produce and publish journalistic content in the net. The students know the principles relative to publishing sound, photographs and moving images in the net. The students are able to modify news content in accordance with different distribution modes.

Students have acceptable participation in class and complete the assignments to a satisfactory standard. They are capable of gathering information and choosing a perspective for their journalistic work. They can conduct interviews and know the significance of critical assessment of information. They organize information to journalistic products, develop their story ideas and give feedback on the contents. They can produce multimedia content to the web.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students actively participate in class and complete the assignments to a good standard. They are capable of observing, producing ideas, gathering information and choosing a perspective for their journalistic work. They can conduct interviews and assess well the information they have gathered. They organize information to coherent journalistic products, develop their story ideas and give feedback on the contents. They can produce multimedia content to the web.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Students actively participate in class and complete the assignments to an excellent standard. They are capable of observing, producing ideas, gathering information and choosing a perspective for their journalistic work in a versatile way. They can excellently conduct interviews and assess critically the information they have gathered. They organize complex information to coherent journalistic products, develop their story ideas and give constructive feedback on the contents. They can independently produce multimedia content to the web.

Opiskelija osallistuu opetukseen hyväksytysti ja suorittaa tehtävät tyydyttävästi. Opiskelija osaa hankkia tietoa ja valita näkökulman journalistiseen työhönsä. Opiskelija osaa haastatella ja tietää aineiston kriittisen arvioinnin merkityksen. Opiskelija jäsentelee tietoa journalistisiksi kokonaisuuksiksi, jalostaa juttuideoitaan ja antaa palautetta sisällöistä. Opiskelija osaa tuottaa monimediaista journalistista sisältöä verkkoon.

Opiskelija osallistuu opetukseen aktiivisesti ja suorittaa tehtävät hyvin. Opiskelija osaa havainnoida, ideoida, hankkia tietoa ja valita näkökulman journalistiseen työhönsä. Opiskelija osaa haastatella ja arvioida tiedonhankinnassa saamaansa aineistoa hyvin. Opiskelija jäsentelee tietoa selkeiksi journalistisiksi kokonaisuuksiksi, jalostaa juttuideoitaan ja antaa palautetta sisällöistä. Opiskelija osaa tuottaa monimediaista journalistista sisältöä verkkoon.

Opiskelija osallistuu opetukseen aktiivisesti ja suorittaa tehtävät kiitettävästi. Opiskelija osaa monipuolisesti havainnoida, ideoida, hankkia tietoa ja valita näkökulman journalistiseen työhönsä. Opiskelija osaa kiitettävästi haastatella ja arvioida tiedonhankinnassa saamaansa aineistoa kriittisesti. Opiskelija jäsentelee monimutkaista tietoa selkeiksi journalistisiksi kokonaisuuksiksi, jalostaa juttuideoitaan ja antaa rakentavasti palautetta sisällöistä. Opiskelija osaa tuottaa itsenäisesti monimediaista journalistista sisältöä verkkoon.
