Learning outcomes

The student learns how to separate different forms of pain, how to assess the pain by using suitable assessment methods and knows how to choose different treatments variously. The student knows how to apply the knowledge in the patients or clients treatment and rehabilitation.

Content

The content consists from 5 topics, that are: 1. what is pain? (1 course credit), 2. The assessment of pain (2 course credits), 3. The non-medicated pain relief (1 course credit), 5. Chronic pain and pain management (1 course credit).

Teaching methods

This course is in CampusOnline and Xamk's students are not able to accomplish it. The course is implemented entirely online. The student can take the online course according to their own schedule. With this nonstop training the student can start the studies in about week after signing in to the course. He/she has 3 months time to accomplish the course.

Learning materials and recommended literature

The study material is on the course platform. The course also has self-study materials, which can be viewed if desired. The student can also utilize other topic related material with studies.

Exam dates and retake possibilities

At the end of the course, there is a final test that the student can take after studying all the themes. The prerequisite for taking the final test is that the student has passed the assignments and self-assessment tests in each section. Self-assessment tests allow the student to review what they have learned and it helps to take the final test.

The scope of the course is 5 cr, which means 135 hours of student work. The course consists of 4 themes and their workload as follows: Theme 1 = 1 cr (27 hours) Theme 2 = 2 cr (54 hours) Theme 3 = 1 cr (27 hours) Theme 4 = 1 cr (27 hours)
