Based on the degree regulations (2024), the student accepted for the implementation is required to confirm his/her participation by showing activity at the start of the study in the following way: In order to demonstrate activity, the student must be present at the first contact lesson or notify the teacher in charge of his/her absence to confirm his/her participation in the study. Registration will be rejected if the student does not report his/her absence at the start of the study or the reason for the absence cannot be considered justified. Another student can be taken in his place.

According to the degree regulations (2024), "Students are entitled to apply for recognition of prior learning regardless of where, when and how the competence has been acquired. ... At Laurea, there are two different procedures for the recognition and accreditation of prior learning: a) accreditation of prior learning (competence acquired in higher education studies at another institution) and b) demonstration of competence (competence acquired in other ways). The recognition and accreditation of prior learning is initiated by the student themselves. The student is responsible for demonstrating and verifying their competence. The student is entitled to guidance for the recognition and accreditation of their competence."; Further information in the student intranet. Study unit consists of independent assignments. Assesment criteria will be informed in each assignment. Passing the Orientation assignments will confirm your participation to this course. Assignments will be graded by points (total 100 points). Orientation assignments max 5 points Landscape of International Service Business -assignments max 45 points Service export modes max 25 points Case -assignments max 25 points The points will be accumulated during the course and transferred to grades as follows: 0 - 45 points = Fail 45 - 54 points Satisfactory (1) 55 - 64 points Satisfactory (2) 65 - 74 points Good (3) 75 - 84 points Good (4) 85 - 100 points Excellent (5)

The expected working time for 5 credits is about 130 working hours. Please note that if you miss a deadline for returning an assignment you cannot return it anymore nor can you renew the assignment.

Assignments will be failed, if the minimum of requirement level II criteria will not be achieved. The course will be failed if the minimum of 45points will not be accumulated.

Opetusmenetelmät

This course is designed for Laurea bachelor students interested in building a career in international business, but is also open for 3AMK- and Campus Online -students.. The course focuses on the service sector, the fastest growing business sector that offer great potential for companies seeking growth in international markets. We expect you to have basic knowledge of service business incl. marketing. After taking the course you will be able to: - identify the role of services in international trade - define internationalization strategies of services and determinants of success in exporting services - analyse internationalisation modes of service companies in different sectors Study unit will be implemented completely on-line. It consists of three chapters Ch 1. Orientation Ch 2. Landscape of service export Ch 3. Service export modes and Case-assignment Each chapter has a set of assignments (independent and group work varying). Assessment criteria will be informed for each assignment separately. Assignments will be graded by points (total 100 points). There will be scheduled online sessions (see timetable below) to support your learning. Participation to these sessions will be expected. The course platform will be CANVAS and we will use Zoom Video Communications for online sessions. Proceed through the chapters in a chronological order. Study the materials and complete the tasks of one chapter before moving to the next chapter. The course is designed so that you can mostly work independently. Pay attention to the deadlines for each task. The deadlines are there to structure your work and are to be followed. They will enable you to progress with the pace of your peers and also to get the most out of the online sessions. You will receive feedback for the tasks that you have returned by the deadline.

Lisätietoja opiskelijoille

Basic knowledge of service business incl. marketing is expected from the participants. Online sessions are expected to be attended.
